Cat-cow is typically done on hands and knees. It involves arching and rounding your spine in time with your breath:
- Cat Pose: You exhale as you round your spine, tucking your tailbone and chin, drawing your belly up and pressing the mat away with your hands.
- Cow Pose: On the inhale, you tilt your pelvis forward, lifting your tailbone and chest as you drop your belly and gaze up.
It’s a gentle, rhythmic movement that mobilizes the entire spine. Or at least—it should.
